IQ Homes LLC was formed in 2015 by Bob
Waterstripe, a custom homebuilder who designed
and built the solar home shown here for a client.
Now retired from building, he leads a team of
architects, engineers and CAD designers to provide
plans for Full Solar Homes to homebuyers and
builders, and to help builders and architects
transition to Full Solar Homes by freely sharing
the information in this website.
Bob built the interactive calculator and discovered the
financial synergy of solar power and EVs. He devised a
simple financial plan to use just part of the savings on
energy to save $100K or more in interest and
eliminate 10+ years of house payments, too.
Eventually the savings on energy and interest exceed
the price of the home.
The trick was to get enough solar on the home, solved by
the “flat roof” design, which also greatly simplifies the
installation and crushes the cost of adding solar.
As a former builder, he realized that in a pre-planned
simple installation, the cost of adding solar is reduced to
the basic distributor price of the hardware, plus two or
three days of labor for a small crew.
With a Full Solar Home and EVs working class families
can accumulate generational wealth in a single
generation, money that would otherwise be burned to
create carbon emissions. And did we mention they
eliminate a lot of carbon emissions?
ABOUT US
This 6,800 sq.ft. (AC) residence has 5,800 sq.ft. of roof area including
over the lanai. Of this only 1,200 sq.ft. was useful for solar, and that
only by using solar roof tiles. This worked out to 18kW, ironically the
same amount of solar power as the smaller example homes shown
throughout this website. This is a solar home but not a Full Solar
Home (not enough power for vehicles, too). P.S. We don’t recommend
this type of solar panels. Feel free to ask why.
